The origin of the word alphabet can be traced back to the Greek alphabet's initial letters, alfa and beta. The term was first used in its Latin form, alphabetum, by Tertullian during the 2nd-3rd century CE, and later by St. Jerome, indicating Latin's influence on the word's origin.
